Creating Your First Event

Learn the basics of managing events and start selling tickets

Welcome to Stageworks! In this article you're going to learn everything you need to create your first event and start selling tickets. Let's get started!

Create Your Event Series

First, make sure you're on the Events page. This is where you will manage all of your events.

Click the + New Event Series button in the top-right and give your event a name. You can also provide a short description of the event if you wish. You can always come back and change this later. Click Save to continue.

Add Event Dates

When you first create a new event series it is in DRAFT mode while you finish setting it up. It will be hidden until you publish it. Click the button to add the first date.

Set the Event Info

Select the date and time of your event. If this is a special event like a preview or an industry night you can provide that information here. When you're ready click the Next button.

Select the Venue

Next you'll select the venue for your event. You can select an existing venue or create a new one.

Configure Ticketing

Finally you'll configure ticketing for your event. First select your ticketing scheme. This determines how ticketing works. The simple ticketing scheme allows you to select a set capacity of tickets to sell. Open and Reserved seating are more advanced and require a seating layout.

Create your ticket types and prices. You can also limit the number of tickets per patron or enable pay-what-you-will pricing so patrons can choose their own price when they purchase tickets.

When you're ready, click Save.

Clone Additional Dates

If you have more dates to add you don't have to create them all from scratch! Click the Clone button for any date and duplicate it for as many dates and times as you wish.

Set an Image for your Event

Our event is pretty boring right now. Let's add an image to make it pop.

Replace Thumbnail

Click the thumbnail at the top of the page to replace it. This will open the image library where you and your team can organize all of your images across your organization.

You can select an existing image or upload one from your computer to add to the library.

Customize the Event Page

Every event series you create gets it's own event page in your Stageworks Portal site. You can further customize that page by clicking on the Portal Event Page tab for your event series.

You can you the powerful page editor to add text, images, video, and buttons to your event page. Click the View on Portal button to preview how your event page will look once it's published.

Publish Your Event

Once your happy with your event and you're ready to sell tickets you will need to Publish your event so your patrons can find it and buy tickets.

Click the dropdown that says DRAFT and click the green Publish button.

That's it! Your event is now live on your Stageworks portal and you're ready to sell tickets.
